SALEM To Film Tel Aviv Show For Possible Release
February 23, 2007Long-running Israeli death metallers SALEM will film their March 28 show at the Barbie club in Tel Aviv for a possible DVD/CD release. More information will be made available soon.
SALEM recently authorized the use of the band's new song "Idol Worship" — taken from the group's upcoming album, "Necessary Evil" — in a major TV campaign for a cellular phone company. Watch the commercial at YouTube.com.
SALEM recently inked a deal with France's Season of Mist. The group's new album, "Necessary Evil", is tentatively due this spring. According to the band, the new material is "modern, dark, highly unique" and "heavier" than their previous efforts. The follow-up to 2005's "Strings Attached", which may or may not be released as a double album, will include a 27-minute piece entitled "Once Upon a Lifetime Parts I - V". Part 1 of the track is available for listening at the band's official MySpace profile. Part 2 will follow shortly.
SALEM's last album, "Strings Attached", was released in Israel in June 2005. The CD contains songs from the band's past repertoire and one brand new song, all re-arranged and performed with one of the most respected all-girl string quartets in Israel. Also featured on the CD are a remake of the SALEM classic "Old Wounds", featuring guest appearances by the lead vocalists of ETERNAL GRAY, ARALLU, BARTHOLOMEUS NIGHT, MOONSKIN, LEHAVOTH, MATRICIDE, SPAWN OF EVIL, SOLITARY and HANGMAN.
